A Gateway Through The Seasons

My favourite gateway on one of my local walks here in Dorset with photographs taken through each season- spring, summer, autumn & winter.

I recently wrote an article for Simple Things magazine about walking a particular path all year round and how it enables you to truly appreciate the shifting of the seasons. It features this gateway view that I walk through most days and photograph through the year.

‘There’s a comfort in walking the same route each day. Where I live in West Dorset, the fields, the woods and coast are all on my doorstep, and one of my favourite local walks is on the coast path. From my home, I pass through a gate, along a footpath, through the fields and down to the shore. I love looking out to sea in the last light of the day watching the sun set. My walks are a chance to slow down, to be outside in the fresh air, to clear my mind and to the enjoy the peacefulness of my surroundings.” Simple Things

My favourite gateway with photographs taken through each season- spring, summer, autumn & winter.

“I get to notice how things change from day to day, and through each season”

“The familiarity of the path allows me to really connect with the landscape”

from the March issue of Simple Things magazine.

In spring the gateway is framed with blackthorn blossom, green shots and buds.

In summer the gateway is overgrown with lush green foliage.

In autumn the gateway is edged with bracken, and the shrubs are laden with berries.

In winter the gateway is framed with bare branches.

You can join me for one of my ‘Spring Photography Walk Workshops’ from my studio in Dorset. The workshops enjoy walks in the countryside and on the coast.
