What a magical place Harwarden Castle is, and what a relaxing time my kids and I enjoyed staying in the ‘West End’ apartment during the May half term. We drove up from Dorset to North Wales to enjoy a couple of days in the newly opened ‘West End’ apartment in Hawarden Castle. This unique two floor apartment has beautiful rooms throughout for all the family (it has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms!) as well as being dog friendly too. With stunning countryside and garden views from every window, a private woodland garden with wood-fired pizza, outdoor seating area and fire-pit for cooking around the fire & toasting marshmallows, an outdoor wood-fired hot tub & an indoor private sauna.

We were welcomed with some of the Hampers you can pre-order to enjoy with your stay- such a great idea. We had the ‘Essentials’ with a hamper full of fresh sourdough, butter, apple juice, milk all made and produced on the Estate as well as cookies from the bakery and marshmallows to toast around the outside fire, which was so lovely after such a long drive up from Dorset.

During our stay we all completely relaxed reading books, listening to the record player, family meals together in the giant ‘West Room’ and relaxing sessions in the indoor private sauna. There were so many lovely walks around the estate & countryside which our dog Mabel really enjoyed, as well as regular trips to the Estate Farm Shop & Bakery for breakfast and afternoon tea together. The best cakes and Sourdough bread- along with lots of Estate home-made jams, honey, chocolate and goodies to buy and take home. We also enjoyed a meal at the Estate’s own pub The Glynne Arms which again was delicious and beautiful interiors too.

It isn’t often you stay somewhere where you instantly relax as you walk in the door, but I think that is the magic of this place.
